Pronunciación aproximada: meh-SEH-doh (The Spanish r here is pronounced with a tap of the tongue against the front of the palate.) Listen
Significado: waiter, waitress, restaurant server
Ejemplo: En Mexico el sueldo de un mesero es muy bajo y por eso la mayoría de sus ingresos es de las propinas.
Traducción: In Mexico the pay for waiters is very low, and therefore most of his income is from tips.
Aviso: These words are more common in Latin America than in Spain, where camarero and camarera are often used.
