About.com Guide to Spanish Language

Gerald Erichsen, your About.com Guide to the Spanish language, is a journalist, writer and editor.

Experience:

Gerald started studying Spanish in high school and has never stopped enjoying using the language and learning more about it. He has used his Spanish skills during travels to five Latin American countries, in work as a journalist and in church-related service. He has written Spanish lessons for the past nine years.

Education:

Gerald has a bachelor of arts in political science and has studied Spanish in Guatemala and Ecuador.

From Gerald Erichsen:

I believe one of the best things we can do to improve our understanding of other people is to learn to speak their language. Although I started learning Spanish to get school credit, and resumed my studies as an adult to learn more about Latin American politics, I have received much more than academic benefit. During travels, I have enjoyed experiences that most tourists don't have, and I have come to know people around me that I otherwise would have seen as strangers. I find Spanish to be a fascinating language, one rich in culture and history. I hope this site helps you appreciate it as well.
