Mandar Usually Refers to Ordering, Sending

"Mandate" might sound a bit formal as a verb in English, but its Spanish equivalent, mandar, is quite ordinary. As explained in our newest lesson, on using the verb mandar, it can also mean "to send." Here's one interesting tidbit from the lesson: Although demandar is a legal term more often in Spanish than is the corresponding English word, "demand," the opposite is true with remandar and "remand."
