Spanish language expert denounces growing use of anglicisms

Francisco Rodríguez Adrados, an internationally recognized authority on classical languages, criticized the Royal Spanish Academy in an interview published today for giving its blessing to so many English words that have entered the Spanish language. "In my opinion, it should have intervened more quickly and more decisively," he told El Adelanto, a newspaper in Salamanca. "When an English word enters it is necessary to stop it immediately."
