Word of the Day: Abecedario

By Gerald Erichsen, About.com

La palabra del día: el abecedario
Pronunciación aproximada: ah-beh-seh-THAH-ryoh (The b in this word is pronounced somewhat like the English "v" but with the top teeth touching the lower lip instead of the two lips touching. The Spanish r here is pronounced with a tap of the tongue against the front of the palate. The d in this word sounds approximately like that "th" of "that." In most of Spain the c in this word is pronounced much like the "th" in "thin.") Listen
Significado: alphabet, book used to teach the alphabet or spelling, alphabetized list
Ejemplo: El abecedario de la fe: Alaba a Dios en cada circunstancia de la vida. Busca la excelencia, no la perfección. Cuenta tus bendiciones.
Traducción: The ABCs of faith: Always praise God regardless of life's circumstances. Be in pursuit of excellence, not perfection. Count your blessings.
Aviso: The above example was loosely translated in order to maintain the acronym.
