You don't have to study Spanish for long to learn that the verb gustar is a very common way of expressing that one likes something (or someone). Of course, there are many other ways of expressing the same idea and perhaps even more of expressing the opposite, dislike or even loathing.
One of the most common is to negate gustar: No me gusta lo que he visto. (I don't like what I've seen.) Stronger still is the use of disgustar, although it's not as strong as its English cognate, "disgust," would suggest: Me disgusta jugar y no ganar. (I really dislike playing and not winning.)
Following are some other ways of expressing dislike. This is not intended to be an exhaustive list, and the translations give aren't intended to be the only ones possible. Verbs followed by an asterisk are those that follow the pattern of gustar in that person doing the disliking is the indirect object of the verb:
Abominar (de): Los líderes de nuestro país abominan de la libertad de expresión. The leaders of our country despise freedom of expression.
Aborrecer: Este sistema de justicia actual es un sistema que todos los ciudadanos lo aborrecemos. The current justice system is one that all of us citizens detest.
Caer mal*: A este alumno, le cae mal el profesor. This student didn't care for the teacher.
Chocar*: Me choca la música rap. I can't stand rap music. (In different contexts, chocar also is frequently used as a transitive verb meaning "to collide.")
Desagradar*: Me desagrada cuando la gente escribe mal y no sabe expresarse bien. I dislike it when people write poorly and don't know how to express themselves well.
Detestar: Ambos detestaban la hipocresía de la sociedad. Both detested society's hypocrisy.
Mirar mal: Mira mal a cualquier hombre que se me acerca. He dislikes any man who comes near me.
Odiar: Mi madre odia los hospitales. My mother hates hospitals.
Repugnar*: Nos repugna que el gobierno ponga los intereses económicos por encima de los derechos humanos. We're appalled that the government puts economic interests above human rights.
