If you trip over the words of Auld Lang Syne, here's a substitute: Adiós Scout, the "Scout Farewell." Sung to the same tune as Auld Lang Syne, it is a song that has become traditional within the scouting movement of Spain and other Spanish-speaking countries. As the name and the lyrics suggest, it is traditionally sung standing in a circle around the campfire as a song of departure.

The words of the song vary to some extent with region, and not all verses are used in all areas. The author of the words is unknown. The following version comes from Spain:

ADIÓS SCOUT

Por qué perder las esperanzas
de volverse a ver,
por qué perder las esperanzas
si hay tanto querer.

Estribillo:
No es más que un hasta luego,
no es más que un breve adiós,
muy pronto, junto al fuego,
nos reuniremos.
