El himno favorito de Pascua
Part 2: The Hymn in English
As an exercise in studying translation, see how the original English words to this well-known Easter hymn vary from the Spanish translated into English. The Spanish version is on the previous page.

Original English Translated from Spanish
Christ the Lord is risen today, Alleluia!
Sons of men and angels say, Alleluia!
Raise your joys and triumphs high, Alleluia!
Sing, ye heavens, and earth reply, Alleluia!

Love's redeeming work is done, Alleluia!
Fought the fight, the victory won, Alleluia!
Jesus' agony is o'er, Alleluia!
Darkness veils the earth no more, Alleluia!

Lives again our glorious King, Alleluia!
Where, O death, is now thy sting? Alleluia!
Once he died our souls to save, Alleluia!
Where they victory, O grave? Alleluia!
Christ has returned to life; Alleluia!
Joyfully hear the singing today: Alleluia!
With trumpets proclaim: Alleluia!
Heaven and earth, make the sound: Alleluia!

Today our King has life, Alleluia!
And death was overcome; Alleluia!
He died in order to save, Alleluia!
And the tomb to conquer, Alleluia!

He has fulfilled his love; Alleluia!
He has given us redemption; Alleluia!
His anguish ended; Alleluia!
He arose in brilliance. Alleluia!
