Usage of acabar

acabar algo to finish something Ella acabó sus tareas escolares. She finished her schoolwork.
acabar algo to use up something Se acabaron los cupones. They used up the coupons.
acabar con alguién to destroy, ruin, or be the end of someone El escándalo Whitewater acabó con presidente Clinton. The Whitewater scandal ruined President Clinton.
acabar con algo to end or destroy something El honrón acabó con el juego de béisbol. The home run brought an end to the baseball game.
acabar de [infinitivo] to have just [verb] Acabo de ir al supermercado. I have just gone to the supermarket.
acabarse to end, come to an end Se acabó el concierto. The concert ended.
acabar por [infinitivo] to end up [-ing verb] Acabé por viajar por avión. I ended up flying
acabar [gerundio] to finish [-ing verb] Acabo comiendo la cena. I am finishing eating dinner.
