Confusing Word Pairs

By , About.com GuideDecember 19, 2010

Follow me on:

How many confusing word pairs can you name? Let's see, there are qué and cuál ("which" or "what"), por and para (often meaning "for"), ser and estar (two words for "to be"), de and desde (usually meaning "from"), and saber and conocer (both translated as "to know").

If there are similar pairs that have caused you a problem, chances are we have a lesson on it. And if not, post a comment below and perhaps it'll be the inspiration for a new lesson.
