Another False Friend: Inconsecuente

If you come across something in Spanish that's inconsecuente, you may be tempted to think that it's unimportant. After all, inconsecuente and "inconsequential" look and sound a lot alike and even come from the same Latin root word. But inconsecuente says nothing about something's importance, only that it's contradictory. Inconsecuente is an example of a "false friend," a Spanish word that can trip you up if you think it means the same as a similar word in English.
