Turning Adjectives Into Nouns
Sunday September 14, 2008
In both Spanish and English, it is common to use adjectives as nouns. For example, in the sentence "Los pobres viven en zonas rurales" or its English equivalent, "The poor live in rural areas," the subject of the sentence is a word that typically is an adjective. This practice is much more common in Spanish, where just about any descriptive adjective can become a noun, as explained in this lesson.
