Progressive thinking

Progressive verb forms don't have a lot to do with progress, nor with politics, but they do have something to do with indicating that an action is (or was or will be) in progress. You can recognize the progressive verb forms in English because they use a present participle, which ends in "-ing." For example, the verb in "He is leaving" is in a progressive form. Spanish isn't all that much different: Progressive verb forms use a conjugated estar (meaning "to be") followed by the -ando or -iendo verb form, which also marks a present participle. Learn more...
