Beginning Spanish: masculine and feminine nouns

One of the first things you'll learn when studying Spanish is that all nouns are classified according to gender. Although noun gender is common in many languages, for most people who speak English the concept is a new one. The reason gender makes a difference in Spanish is because nouns that are classified as masculine must be matched with masculine adjectives, and feminine nouns must be matched with feminine adjectives.
