Al otro lado del río scores an Oscar first

Sunday February 27, 2005
Al otro lado del río, a song from the film Los diarios de motocicleta ("The Motorcycle Diaries") tonight became the first Spanish-language song to receive an Academy Award as the best song from a motion picture. The music and lyrics were written by Jorge Drexler, who made his brief acceptance remarks in Spanish as well. You can learn more about Drexler at his official Web site, which is in Spanish. You can also read an earlier article about the Argentine movie here.
