It is quite common in Spanish for a phrase to be formed by a conjugated verb followed by a preposition followed by an infinitive. For example, traté de nadar means "I tried to swim," and acabo de estudiar means "I have just studied." One of the participants in our forum is trying to compile a list of such word combinations.
