Campaigns launch new Spanish ads

Both of the major-party presidential candidates in the United States are spending an unprecedented amount of money in Spanish-language campaigning this year, news reports indicate. Most recently, the Democratic candidate, John Kerry, bought $1 million of Spanish-language ads, calling it a record Spanish-language campaign ad buy. Republican incumbent George Bush already has spent $1.1 million in Spanish ads. The Democratic ads tend to emphasize economic issues, while the Republican ads tend to emphasize social values.
