Fear of failure keeps people from learning other languages

Perseverance and arranging to use the language each day are among the tips that Peter Steimle has for those wanting to learn a foreign language. Steimle, a business consultant and former missionary in Chile, says that one thing to remember is that learning another language is a natural experience: "From what I've observed, the biggest obstacle to learning a second language is fear of failure. Remember, babies do this! It is not rocket science… it’s actually more like crossing the plains with a handcart, because it’s a long journey, but as long as you keep moving you will eventually get there!"
