Official Spanish-language site opens for Gibson film
Thursday October 23, 2003
It isn't often that a major American-produced film shows up with an official web site in Spanish before its English-language site debuts. But exactly that has happened with Mel Gibson's upcoming movie, The Passion of Christ.
Like most official film sites, this one includes a movie trailer, interview transcripts, a plot summary, an FAQ, a photo gallery and contact information — all in Spanish. (The film itself is mostly in Latin and Aramaic.) Here is a portion of its description of the film: El film presenta una secuencia de la crucifixión de un realismo sin precedentes, con algunos "flashbacks", en los que se contrastan escenas de la vida cotidiana de Jesús.
The FAQ of the site addresses some of the controversy surrounding the film, denying allegations that it is anti-Semitic.
The site was produced by ACI Prensa, a Latin American Catholic news agency based in Lima, Peru. Visit the site...
