Chilean novelist wins top literary award

Antonio Skármeta, a novelist from Chile, has won the prestigious Planeta literary prize for his novel El baile de la victoria. The novel is a love story set during the reign of Augusto Pinochet. The prize, which is usually seen as the highest recognition for Spanish-language authors, is worth about $699 million U.S.
