Typing accents and Spanish punctuation

If you're using a computer that's set up for the English language, it may not be obvious to you how to type the Spanish accented vowels and punctuation. So participants in our forum have shared their tips on how they do it. Join the discussion...
Although it may be somewhat out of date, you can also check our lesson on typing Spanish. This lesson was written before the days of Windows Me and Windows XP, but most of it is still applicable even with the newer operating systems.
You also may be interested to know that people in Spanish-speaking countries often use a different keyboard than what people in English-speaking countries use. The Spanish keyboard isn't much different than the one used for English, although some of the characters are in different places. I remember using computers at a public Internet terminal in Peru a few years ago, and I found using the Spanish keyboard not all that difficult — until I had to use a keyboard in which the letters were worn off.
