Volleyball player impresses Dominicans with his height — and language skills

Gabe Gardner is the only member of the U.S. men's volleyball team who speaks Spanish, and he says the language came in handy while the team was at the recently completed Pan American games in the Dominican Republic. The fact he speaks their language is surprising to many Dominicans. "I've been talking with bus drivers and fans," he told the Associated Press. "People trip out on me because I'm so tall and I'm so white." He learned the language while playing volleyball in Spain and Latin America. Read more... (Source: Associated Press)
