Spanish sex comedy opening across U.S.
Tuesday July 15, 2003
Km.0, a sex farce about relationships among 14 people on one the hottest days of the summer in Madrid, is opening across theaters in the United States. Km.0, released as Kilómetro cero in Spain three years ago, opened in New York City last weekend and will open this coming weekend in the San Francisco area and Chicago before heading to other major U.S. cities. The film, directed by Yolanda García Serrano and
Juan Luis Iborra, has previously played at various gay and lesbian film festivals. The unrated film, being shown in Spanish with English subtitles, is aimed at adult audiences. See the movie's web site...
The film's title comes from the point in the Plaza del Sol from where distances to all points in the country are measured. An explanatory title of Kilometer Zero is also being used in marketing.
Spanish-language movies slated for opening in the U.S. later this summer include Los lunes al sol starring Javier Bardem and a Mexican film, La hija del canibal. Both have been rated R.
